Extension
The 35-year-old has signed a deal keeping him at the northern German club beyond next summer and until the end of the 2009/10 campaign. "I am very happy here, and not only with the football side of things," said Rost, the former Werder Bremen keeper who joined Hamburg from FC Schalke 04 during the 2006/07 season.
'Key man'
Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Baiersdorfer added: "He is a really good goalkeeper with a strong personality. He is an important member of the club." Rost kept two clean sheets against first-round opponents AFC Unirea Urziceni to help Hamburg into the UEFA Cup group stage, where they will meet AFC Ajax, SK Slavia Praha, Aston Villa FC and MŠK Žilina in Group F. In total, the four-times German international has made 58 Bundesliga appearances for the team.
