Omonia using the underdog example

AC Omonia defender Elias Charalambous is calling on his team-mates to use Greece's UEFA EURO 2004™ triumph and Anorthosis Famagusta FC's progress to the UEFA Champions League group stage as an incentive to overcome English side Manchester City FC.

Self belief
Greece stunned the football world by going all the way in Portugal four years ago to claim an unlikely victory, while Temuri Ketsbaia's Anorthosis progressed through three qualification rounds to reach the UEFA Champions League proper. "We are in good physical and psychological shape and our aim was always to qualify for the group stage of the competition," said Charalambous, ahead of the first leg in Nicosia. "In football, anything can be accomplished as long as you believe. One has only to look at Greece in 2004 and Anorthosis. We believe in ourselves and we will give everything to win."

'Tough game'
The Cypriot club stunned AEK Athens FC 3-2 on aggregate in the second qualifying round to set up a meeting with Mark Hughes's side, and their Bosnian coach Nedim Dudić is looking for a repeat of that giant-killing form again in front of an expected capacity crowd at the GSP Stadium. "We have a very tough game ahead of us but, whatever the opponent, we always aim to win," said Dudić. "And that is what we aim to do against Manchester City."

'Attacking' intentions
The visitors boast some high-profile names among their ranks in Robinho, Jô and Shaun Wright-Phillips, but Dudić insists his side will not be on the defensive. "We will not just sit back," he added. "You can be sure that we will play attacking football because that is the only way to try and achieve a good advantage ahead of the second leg. Our fans know that we will give our all and with discipline, will and passion we are capable of taking what we want from this game."
