The 27-year-old has agreed terms on a four-year contract after enjoying two successful seasons at Lyon which included back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and a French Cup success. The former AS Monaco FC defender, a non-playing member of France's UEFA EURO 2008™ squad, joins up with fellow summer signings N'Dri Romaric, Fernando Navarro, Lautaro Acosta and Abdoulay Konko at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Meanwhile, Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has been awarded Spanish citizenship after pledging allegiance to the country's constitution. The 27-year-old Brazilian international, who arrived in Spain three years ago from FC Porto, completed the nationalisation process today, freeing up one of his club's three places allowed for non-European Union players. "This is very important," he said. "It's a step forward for me and the club and all that's left now is to sign my new contract here." Sevilla return to the UEFA Cup in the first round this season having won the competition in 2006 and 2007.
