Aberdeen FC manager Jimmy Calderwood has ended speculation about his future by signing a new three-year contract ahead of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie with FC Bayern München next month.
Commitment
Calderwood's current deal expires in the summer and he had hinted he would seek to pursue his ambitions elsewhere, just as players Michael Hart, Barry Nicholson and Chris Clark announced last week that they would leave at the end of the season. But the 52-year-old is staying put until 2011 along with with assistant Jimmy Nicholl and first-team coach Sandy Clark, following on from defender Zander Diamond's decision to accept a new contract on Thursday.
European run
Aberdeen lie fourth in the Scottish Premier League, are unbeaten in seven matches and welcome Bayern to Pittodrie for the first leg of their tie on 13/14 February before a return the following week in the 1983 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup winners best European run in 22 years.
