'A bit like Liedson'
The 22-year-old joins the Lisbon side a fortnight before his deal with Rio de Janeiro-based Fluminense was due to expire. He said of the move: "I hope to come here and have a good year. I will do my best to stay at the club and meet expectations. I am a forward with a lot of movement – I bit like Liedson."
Loan ranger
A Fluminense graduate, Rodrigo was loaned to both EC Noroeste and Santos FC in 2006 before returning to his original club. In total, he scored eleven goals in 74 league games for Fluminense. His new team, Paulo Bento's Sporting, are fourth in the Portuguese Liga, 14 points adrift of leaders FC Porto. They will also meet FC Basel 1893 in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 in February.
