SL Benfica have signed Romanian Under-21 international Laszlo Sepsi on a five-and-a-half year contract.
High hopes
The Lisbon team have landed the left-back for an undisclosed transfer fee from CF Gloria 1922 Bistrita. "Benfica are a great European club and I hope I'll be very happy here – that's what I am aiming for," said Sepsi.
French sojourn
The deal represents a second move abroad for the 21-year-old, who spent the 2005/06 campaign with Stade Rennais FC in France, on loan from his first club, CS Gaz Metan Medias. Sepsi failed to make a single Ligue 1 appearance and returned to Romania to join Gloria Bistrita, where he played 45 Romanian top-flight matches.
Versatile player
"I am a very attacking full-back and I can also cover other positions," he told a news conference at the Estádio da Luz. Benfica, a distant second behind FC Porto in the Portuguese title race, will face 1. FC Nürnberg in the UEFA Cup Round of 32.
