Short extension
The 35-year-old defensive midfielder was due to take up a position as player-coach with lower league side Svalövs BK this spring but, with Helsingborg yet to sign a replacement for him, Jakobsson has agreed to extend his deal until 21 February – the day of the second leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against PSV Eindhoven. At the weekend, 36-year-old striker Henrik Larsson curtailed his own retirement plans to commit to another year with Helsingborg, saying: "I feel that I can still perform at the highest level and therefore I've decided to continue playing for Helsingborg."
