Adler sits out Leverkusen finale

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will conclude their UEFA Cup Group E campaign at FC Zürich on Wednesday without goalkeeper René Adler who is nursing a hand injury.

'Injured tendon'
Having complained of soreness in his right hand in recent weeks, the 22-year-old underwent tests following Saturday's 5-2 Bundesliga loss at Werder Bremen. These revealed an old tear and, according to Adler, "an injured tendon and an inflamed forefinger". Benedikt Fernandez will replace the No1 in Switzerland, when two teams who have already qualified for the Round of 32 meet, attempting to pip FC Spartak Moskva to top spot in the section.
