Mutu sidelined for club and country

Striker Adrian Mutu will miss ACF Fiorentina's UEFA Cup trip to AEK Athens FC on 29 November and Romania's concluding UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers after being ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury.

Likely lay-off
The in-form 28-year-old was injured during the weekend's 2-1 home defeat by Udinese Calcio but managed to play on until the final whistle. Tests have confirmed his absence, sidelining Mutu for the UEFA Cup Group C game at AEK, where a win could take leaders Fiorentina into the last 32. Mutu will also sit out Romania's matches against Bulgaria and Albania on 17 and 21 November, although their place at the finals is already secure.
