'Fantastic time'
Krøldrup headed in the fourth Gigliati goal as Fiorentina ran out 6-1 winners against their beleaguered Swedish opponents. The defender's goal complemented fellow Danish international Martin Jørgensen's double strike, a spectacular shot by Marco Donadel and further efforts from Christian Vieri and youth-team graduate Samuele Di Carmine. "It's a fantastic time for the whole side and we're looking really good in the league as well," said Krøldrup.
Flying high
The Viola moved to the top of Group C on goal difference over Villarreal CF after this emphatic win and, still unbeaten in all competitions this season, the club from Florence, who lie second in Serie A, are looking well-poised to threaten on all fronts this season. "We're keeping our feet on the ground and it's too soon to start talking about long-term goals at the moment," added the 28-year-old. "We're just taking it one match at a time as it's a long campaign. But we do have a good defence - it's the best in Italy alongside Inter, which is gratifying."
Prandelli praise
Coach Cesare Prandelli was also satisfied with his side's performance, reserving particular praise for 19-year-old Di Carmine, who came off the bench to score his first goal for the club before wheeling away for a protracted goal celebration. "We did really well to keep possession and to keep pressing when we had to," said Prandelli. "I'm pleased because we did our homework and achieved this result by changing things around tactically. Di Carmine's goal was both a reward for him and for Fiorentina's youth academy. I'm absolutely delighted for him."
Jørgensen joy
It was also a memorable night for midfielder Jørgensen, who scored his first two goals of the season, the first a fierce strike into the top corner which opened the scoring after just four minutes. "I though that I'd try a shot and luckily it went in," said the 32-year-old after his fourth appearance this term. "It could have ended up in the stands but it flew in. It was great to score so early on too. There was a lot of space out there to exploit and I was able to really enjoy. After the break our qualities came out and we just finished them off."
