Johnson renews ties at Everton

England striker Andrew Johnson has ended any uncertainty over his future at Everton FC by signing a new five-year contract with the UEFA Cup contenders.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Ham United FC during the winter transfer window, but has now signed a new deal to replace the initial five-year contract he signed on joining the club from Crystal Palace FC in 2006. "We are absolutely delighted, it is fantastic news for Evertonians," said chairman Bill Kenwright. "This deal further underlines our commitment to keep our best players at our club."
