Agüero's fine art of football

The Spanish press and FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Anatoly Byshovets could only marvel at Agüero following Club Atlético de Madrid's 3-3 draw in Russia.

The Spanish press and FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Anatoly Byshovets could only marvel at Agüero following the Russian side's 3-3 draw with Club Atlético de Madrid on Thursday.

'An artist'
The capital club took the lead twice in Moscow, with the Argentinian star opening the scoring after 16 minutes and then providing a second spectacular finish five minutes from time to wrest a point for his side. El Mundo Deportivo headlined their assessment of the match with the line: 'An artist in Moscow'. The 19-year-old is certainly making his name known.

Romário reminder
Having scored against FK Vojvodina in the second qualifying round and against Kayseri Erciyesspor in the first round, the goals are flowing freely for Agüero. Former Soviet Union striker Byshovets was certainly impressed. "I didn't expect Agüero to cause us so many problem," he said. "I saw the league game against Real Zaragoza and he was a delight to watch. He reminds me of Romário - in fact I would go even further and say he's better than Romário. Seeing him play was as enjoyable as visiting the Prado Museum in Madrid."

Aguirre worried
In the end, Atlético coach Javier Aguirre was disappointed with the outcome of the game, despite the grandstand performance by Agüero, signed from CA Independiente in the summer of 2006. "A couple of mistakes in defence cost us victory," he said. "Getting a point in the first group stage match isn't too bad but conceding three goals is."

Tricky section
Atlético host Aberdeen FC in their next Group B game on 29 November, while Lokomotiv meet the same side in Scotland in their next encounter on 8 November, ahead of ties against FC København and Panathinaikos FC. "We have two matches against athletic teams coming up," said Byshovets. "It will be tough and I am afraid that seven points will not be enough to qualify from this group."
