Article body
In-form Stade Rennais FC striker Sylvain Wiltord is likely to be out of action until December after pulling a calf muscle.
Scoring form
The summer signing from Olympique Lyonnais had scored three goals in Rennes' last three Ligue 1 games – all victories, including Sunday's 2-1 win at RC Lens – but will now be sidelined for four weeks.
UEFA Cup setback
The absence of the 33-year-old former French international will be a major blow to Rouge et Noir coach Pierre Dréossi. Wiltord will miss the UEFA Cup group-stage match against SK Brann on 8 November, and must also be rated doubtful for the trip to Hamburger SV on 29 November. Rennes began their Group D campaign with a 1-0 defeat at FC Basel 1893 last week. The team are also in Ligue 1 contention, sitting third, four points behind leaders Olympique Lyonnais.
