Stade Rennais FC striker Olivier Thomert will be sidelined for three weeks after dislocating his collarbone during Saturday's 3-1 French league success at Paris Saint-Germain FC.
Cup absence
Thomert discovered the extent of the injury after a scan on Thursday, meaning the 27-year-old will definitely miss his team's UEFA Cup Group D opener at FC Basel 1893 on 25 October. Thomert has been a regular for Les Rouge et Noir since signing from RC Lens in January 2007, featuring in 19 Ligue 1 games and scoring two goals. As well as Basel, Rennes will also tackle SK Brann, Hamburger SV and NK Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Cup, having overcome PFC Lokomotiv Sofia in the first round.
