Blackburn see off brave MyPa

Blackburn Rovers FC 2-0 Myllykosken Pallo-47 (agg: 3-0) The English side made hard work of things before two second-half goals took them through.

Blackburn Rovers FC made heavy weather of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round second-leg encounter against Myllykosken Pallo-47 before finally booking a place in the first round draw.

Home frustration
Mark Hughes' side won 1-0 in Finland a fortnight ago and despite dominating from the outset at Ewood Park they were left frustrated in the opening 45 minutes thanks to a mix of wasteful finishing and inspired goalkeeping by Janne Korhonen. Jason Roberts was the major culprit for Blackburn, putting a Brett Emerton cross wide with the goal gaping before seeing a close-range shot on the turn brilliantly saved by Korhonen.

Blackburn dominant
The home team finally found a way through three minutes into the second half when Morten Gamst Pederson crossed from the left for Bentley to volley in, connecting perfectly to give Korhonen no chance. Brad Friedel was forced to push away a long-range drive by Tuomas Kuparinen midway through the second period but Blackburn were rarely troubled and after Tugay Kerimoğlu, Roberts and Pederson had all gone close, Roberts scored their second with the last kick of the game, back-heeling the ball in after Matt Derbyshire's header had been saved on the line.
