Łukasiewicz loaned to Leiria

UEFA Cup hopefuls UD Leiria have secured the services of Elche CF's Polish defender Antoni Łukasiewicz on loan until the end of the season, with the option to make the deal permanent.

Sporadic appearances
The 24-year-old, a former Poland Under-21 captain, joined Elche last season after four years with KSP Polonia Warszawa and made 15 league appearances for the second-tier side. Leiria, who started their Portuguese Liga campaign with a goalless draw against Boavista FC on Sunday night, will try to reach the UEFA Cup first round next Thursday when they meet Maccabi Netanya FC in Israel in the second leg of their second qualifying round tie following a goalless home draw.
