Getafe get Mario from Recreativo

Getafe CF have signed central defender Mario Álvarez from RC Recreativo de Huelva on a four-year deal with Nigerian forward Ikechukwu Uche set to follow soon.

The 25-year-old was officially presented at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez Stadium today, saying: "I would like Getafe to do as well as possible in all three competitions: the league, cup and UEFA Cup. Now I have to work hard so [new Getefe coach Michael] Laudrup counts on me when he picks his team." Getafe are expected to unveil Mario’s Nigerian Recreativo team-mate Uche as a new signing tomorrow. The Madrid club have already signed Kepa Blanco and Oscar Alfredo Ustari with Miguel Pallardó and Pablo Hernández joining on loan from Valencia CF. They start their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round as losing Copa del Rey finalists.
