Article body
For Sevilla FC coach Juande Ramos, the key to reaching a second consecutive UEFA Cup final was Luis Fabiano's strike eight minutes before half-time which altered the balance of their semi-final tie against CA Osasuna - levelling the aggregate scores and easing the home team's path to a 2-0 victory on the night. Ramos's opposite number, José Ángel Ziganda, concurred, saying that the first goal "changed everything" and, ultimately, cost Osasuna a place in the 16 May showpiece against RCD Espanyol. uefa.com rounds up the reaction from the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Juande Ramos, Sevilla coach
We are delighted to be in the final. It is a second successive final for us, something that is very hard to achieve in European competition. Only a few teams have done this before. I think it is confirmation of what we managed to do last year, and by now nobody should be surprised to see us at this stage of the tournament. Osasuna were tough opponents, though, and they made us work really hard. We could have lost the tie in Pamplona last week, because in the first leg, as here, they proved themselves to be a very organised, well set up team. For us, Luis Fabiano's goal was essential. We had to score before half-time, and doing so made our task - to score twice on the night - that much easier. Finally, I would like to congratulate Espanyol and send them my best wishes. I hope they enjoy this final almost as much as we did last year's.
José Ángel Ziganda, Osasuna coach
We didn't lack ambition and, until the first goal, we played well and looked comfortable out there. In fact, Sevilla were looking a bit nervous if anything. But the first goal was crucial and everything changed after that went in. We found it hard to get back into the game and seemed to go missing for a while. I think Sevilla got their reward because they treated this game like a final and they showed themselves to be a top team. But I will go back to Pamplona feeling proud of my players and we can hold our heads high for what we have achieved. Even if we didn't play well tonight, every one of my players gave everything they had - it is just that Sevilla were better than us on the night. We are very down, of course, but that's a good thing, as it means we will want to achieve similar goals in the future.
