Sevilla FC midfielder Adriano Correia faces a race against time to be fit for the UEFA Cup final after sustaining a thigh injury during Thursday night's semi-final success against CA Osasuna.
Expected lay-off
The 22-year-old was taken off after 27 minutes of his side's second-leg victory, Sevilla winning 2-0 to reach the Glasgow final on a 2-1 aggregate. The news will come as a blow to Juande Ramos's treble-chasing team who must do without their influential Brazilian for crucial league matches against Real Madrid CF and RC Recreativo de Huelva, as well as the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against RC Deportivo La Coruña.
Second setback
Adriano remains hopeful, however, of proving his fitness for the UEFA Cup showpiece in Glasgow on 16 May. Signed from Coritiba FC in 2004, he has made ten appearances in this season's European competition, besides playing 23 Primera División games. In a further setback for the Andalusian outfit, defender Javi Navarro was also injured against Osasuna and the 33-year-old will need a week to recover from a pulled calf muscle.
