Ziganda points way to semi-finals

CA Osasuna coach José Angel Ziganda called on his players to "stay modest and respect our opponents" despite returning to Spain with a 3-0 victory from the first leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Javier Cuéllar, David López and Pierre Webó were on target for Osasuna, leaving Michael Skibbe admitting that the German club need "a miracle" in Pamplona to progress.

Our dream looks to be over for the time being. They defended really well and we'll have to digest this defeat. The first goal was obviously a huge blow for our game plan. We were shocked by that and took until midway through the first half to get back into the match. We were slightly better after that. The second goal was avoidable and we shouldn't have conceded it. We must try to take the tiny chance we have in the return in order to pull off a miracle recovery, but after losing 3-0 we are miles away from that.

This is a great day for Osasuna - beating a big club with such tradition and prestige. We're a small club but play with passion and are obviously very happy. We can enjoy our success for now but we have a league match on Sunday then the second leg on Thursday. We have to stay modest and respect our opponents as we're not that much better than Bayer, they just didn't take their chances. We live off our fighting spirit and nothing will change that. Everyone played at 100 per cent - it was a perfect day for us. Winning 3-0 here is anything but the norm, and we have to close the door on the tie at home.
