The 27-year-old Brazilian international landed heavily on his left leg and limped off nine minutes before half-time, with José Luis Martí coming on. An initial scan revealed a sprain which means Renato will miss both legs of the UEFA Cup Round of 16 tie against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, on 8 and 15 March. Holders Sevilla overcame FC Steaua Bucuresti 3-0 on aggregate in the last 32 of the competition, and Saturday's victory moved them a point clear of Barcelona in the Spanish title race.
