Blackburn celebrate Samba signing

The DR Congo defender Christopher Samba has left Hertha BSC Berlin to become Blackburn Rovers FC's third signing of the week. "It's a dream come true," he said.

The DR Congo and Hertha BSC Berlin defender Christopher Samba has become the third player to join Blackburn Rovers FC in a week, agreeing a contract until 2010 with the Premiership club.

'Dream'
Born in France, the 1.94m Samba impressed on a five-day trial at Blackburn and links up with fellow newcomers David Dunn (€3.4m from Birmingham City FC) and Stephen Warnock (undisclosed from Liverpool FC) at Ewood Park. The 22-year-old said: "I'm very happy to be here. It's a dream for me to play in England. Germany was a good experience - it is a very strong league - but in England it is more intense."

UEFA Cup
Formerly of CS Sedan-Ardennes, Samba moved to Germany in 2004/05 and went on to appear in 20 Bundesliga games for Hertha before dropping into the reserves earlier this season. He also represented the Berliners in the UEFA Cup and cannot therefore be registered for Blackburn as they prepare to tackle Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Round of 32.
