Maresca to sit out for Sevilla

Sevilla FC midfielder Enzo Maresca will miss Thursday's home match with SC Braga as the holders look for their first win in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup group stage.

Ligament damage
The 26-year-old Italian will be out for up to two weeks with minor knee ligament damage suffered during training. He will definitely sit out the visit of the Portuguese contenders Braga and also the Primera División high-fliers' Sunday trip to Athletic Club Bilbao. In terms of the UEFA Cup, Sevilla drew 0-0 in their Group C opener at FC Slovan Liberec on 19 October and are five points adrift of section leaders AZ Alkmaar who have played twice. One positive for Sevilla is that top scorer Frédéric Kanouté's achilles trouble is not expected to keep him out.
