• The two sides have never met in European competition.
• This is Nancy's first game in the UEFA Cup group stage this season.
• Wisła started their Group E campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home against Blackburn Rovers FC with two second-half goals cancelling out Mauro Cantoro's opener.
• Wisła coach Dragomir Okuka has recent experience of French opposition having seen his Serbia and Montenegro side beaten 2-0 by their French counterparts in the summer's 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals in Portugal.
• Novices in European competition, with just six appearances to their name (two wins, a draw and three defeats), and have never faced Polish opposition before.

• Only one Polish player has ever played for Nancy, Ryszard Tarasiewicz who scored five goals for the club in the early 1990s.
