Feyenoord to travel without Vlaar

Ron Vlaar is continuing to struggle with a foot injury and will be unavailable for at least the first leg of Feyenoord's tie against PFC Lokomotiv Sofia.

Central defender Ron Vlaar is continuing to struggle with a foot injury and will be unavailable for at least the first leg of Feyenoord's UEFA Cup tie against PFC Lokomotiv Sofia.

Pre-season injury
A UEFA European Under-21 Championship winner with the Netherlands in June, Vlaar, 21, sustained the injury in pre-season and was substituted 32 minutes into Feyenoord's opening Eredivisie match against FC Groningen on 20 August. He will miss next Thursday's trip to Bulgaria but could be fit for the return at De Kuip a fortnight later.

Collen news
Vlaar's defensive colleague Pieter Collen, 26, is not thought to be in danger of sitting out the first leg of that European tie even though he dislocated his shoulder during Belgium's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying win in Armenia on Wednesday.
