Tottenham Hotspur FC have signed Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' from AS Roma following an 18-month loan spell at the London club.
Permit formality
The 23-year-old returned to Italy in the summer after the sides failed to agree a permanent deal for him, but the move has now been revived, subject to the player receiving a work permit. "I always knew in my heart I would be coming back," said the former Zamalek SC, KAA Gent, AFC Ajax, RC Celta de Vigo and Olympique de Marseille player. "It's a fantastic transfer for me, I have some good friends and I will be back with the lads."
Jol delighted
"We've been tracking Mido since his loan ended and we were always keen to bring him back," said Tottenham manager Martin Jol, whose club have paid a fee in the region of €7.5m for the forward. "Roma took some persuading and I'm delighted to have him in the squad. It's an excellent addition." Mido scored eleven goals in 27 Premiership appearances for Tottenham last term, following two in nine the previous campaign. Spurs take on SK Slavia Praha in the UEFA Cup first round on 14 and 28 September.
