UEFA Cup contenders US Città di Palermo have signed goalkeeper Cristiano Lupatelli on loan from Parma FC until the end of the season in a deal that sees Matteo Guardalben move in the opposite direction.
Immediate impression
Lupatelli has struggled since moving to the Stadio Ennio Tardini from ACF Fiorentina during the summer, and has seen himself fall behind veteran Luca Bucci in the goalkeeping pecking order. The 27-year-old might not have to wait long to make an impression with Palermo, and could make his debut on Sunday when the Sicilian side host Serie A leaders Juventus.
Guardalben return
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Guardalben returns to Parma after previously spending three seasons at the Gialloblu as understudy to Gianluigi Buffon between 1998 and 2000.
