Dutch Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen are poised to lose another of their talented strikers after agreeing a fee of approximately €8.8m with Manchester City FC for Georgios Samaras.
Long-term contract
The 20-year-old Greek youngster will complete his move to the Premiership outfit subject to passing a medical and agreeing personal terms. He is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year contract with Stuart Pearce's side in a move that will leave Heerenveen further bereft of strikers following the recent departure of Klaas Jan Huntelaar to AFC Ajax.
Great expectations
Much has been predicted for Samaras since he burst onto the scene at the age of 17, scoring three goals in his first four substitute appearances. He has since been on the fringes of the side, consistently making an impact coming off the bench, and scored eleven goals in 31 games last season - of which just six were starts. His expected arrival will come a matter of days after Robbie Fowler departed to return to Liverpool FC.
