Having changed clubs for an undisclosed fee, Molhoek has inked a four-and-a-half year contract with the UEFA Cup contenders in a deal that also saw fellow midfielder Mathijssen, 22, move to Waalwijk on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
Formative experience
AZ coach Louis van Gaal knows Molhoek from his time with the Netherlands Under-19 team, with the player saying: "Training under Van Gaal made a huge impression on me." Molhoek was in his fifth season with Waalwijk having previously played for second division FC Dordrecht.
