Schalke see value of family ties

Turkey striker Halil Altıntop will join twin brother Hamit at FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer from 1. FC Kaiserslautern at the end of the season.

Brothers in arms
The 23-year-old has penned a four-year-contract with the Gelsenkirchen outfit, and will join twin brother Hamit at the Arena Aufschalke. Halil Altıntop has scored 13 goals in just 17 Bundesliga games this season, over half of the total basement side Kaiserslautern have scored.

'Dream candidate'
He lies second only to Werder Bremen's Miroslav Klose in the Bundesliga scoring charts and that form has attracted UEFA Cup contenders Schalke. "He was the dream candidate for our attack," said team manager Andreas Müller said. "He has done fabulously at Kaiserslautern."
