AS Monaco FC have announced that striker Toifilou Maoulida is set to join Ligue 1 rivals Olympique de Marseille on loan until the end of the season.
Unsettled spell
The move means the 26-year-old becomes the second player to exit the Principality outfit today, following Patrice Evra's earlier transfer to Manchester United FC. The deal hopefully ends an unsettled period for Maoulida, who failed to make an impact at the Stade Louis II after joining on a four-year deal from Stade Rennais FC during the summer, and failed to score in nine league starts for the club.
Cup-tied
He enjoyed more success in the UEFA Cup, however, finding the net twice against SK Slavia Praha to help the side advance to the Round of 32. Marseille are also in the UEFA Cup knockout stages but Maoulida will be ineligible to play. Defender Jérôme Bonnissel, signed earlier today from Montpellier HSC, is available.
