Monaco tie up Di Vaio deal

Marco Di Vaio has said farewell to his team-mates at Valencia CF after confirming that he will be joining AS Monaco FC on loan with a view to a €6m transfer.

'Very kind'
After replacing Didier Deschamps as Monaco coach back in October, Italian Francesco Guidolin made Di Vaio his top target for the January transfer window. The 29-year-old is leaving Valencia in search of regular football having only featured in five Primera División games this season. He said: "I feel very comfortable here and wish everyone success for the future. Monaco will give me a chance to play and that's the most important thing to me. People at Valencia have always been very kind to me, especially the fans."

UEFA Cup
Capped 14 times by the Azzurri, Di Vaio arrived in Spain on a five-year deal from Juventus in 2004 having previously turned out for Salernitana Sport, Parma FC and S.S. Lazio. His arrival at the Stade Louis II could open the door for Emmanuel Adebayor to leave, with a number of leading clubs across the continent reportedly on the trail of the Togo striker. Monaco will play FC Basel 1893 in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup, a competition for which they could register Di Vaio.
