Brøndby and Espanyol punished

Johansen suspended
Johansen was dismissed 78 minutes into the match in Denmark after being seen to punch an opponent in the stomach, and although UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body conceded that it was "not very violent", the player has been suspended for two European games.

Palermo match
The defender will therefore sit out Brøndby's final UEFA Cup Group B fixture against US Città di Palermo - from which the Danish club must take at least a point to have any hope of reaching the knockout phase. Johansen has until midnight on Friday to appeal.

Lotina decision
Pereira and Lotina were sent off after 69 minutes of the same match: the player for a violent push on an opponent who had committed a foul on him; the coach for entering the field of play, confronting the referee and behaving aggressively. Lotina also confronted the fourth official when leaving the pitch.

Espanyol fined
Pereira has been handed a two-game UEFA club competition ban for his behaviour, with his coach receiving a four-match touchline suspension as well as a €5,000 fine. In addition, the Spanish side have been fined €3,000 for having a player red-carded and five more booked.

Important game
Lotina and Pereira will serve the first game of their bans in Espanyol's concluding Group B assignment at home to Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC on 15 December. The club have until midnight tomorrow to appeal the decisions.
