Sevilla spoil Tigana's big night

Sevilla FC 3-0 Beşiktaş JK
Frédéric Kanouté was inspirational as Jean Tigana's spell as Beşiktaş coach got off to a miserable start.

Opening strike
The Malian striker came off the substitutes' bench to set up the opening goal for Argentinian Javier Saviola just after the hour mark, before scoring twice himself as Sevilla enjoyed a winning start to their Group H campaign. The Primera División outfit lie second with the last remaining 100 per cent record in the section, while the Turkish side are second from bottom after gaining a solitary point from their first two fixtures.

Creative play
The hosts had their chances to break the deadlock in the first half but lacked a finishing touch until former Tottenham Hotspur FC striker Kanouté was brought on as a substitute, replacing Luis Fabiano after 58 minutes. Sevilla coach Juande Ramos had begun with an attacking side which saw Brazilian summer signing Luis Fabiano partnering Saviola up front, but despite creating a number of openings, the two strikers could not fashion a goal.

Headed pass
Kanouté quickly helped change that as his header set up Saviola's opening goal after 64 minutes, and Beşiktaş had barely had time to recover before the striker got on to the scoresheet himself, finishing from a Fernando Sales cross less than 60 seconds later. Beşiktaş could find no way back into the match after that double blow - and Kanouté was not finished yet. In the penultimate minute he rounded off his excellent performance with his side's third and his second, finishing from close range after a right-wing cross from Daniel.
