First trophy
The 44-year-old joined the club four years ago, leaving his post as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United FC to try and be the first man to bring a trophy to Middlesbrough. He achieved that in the 2003/04 season, winning the English League Cup and he has since twice taken Middlesbrough into the UEFA Cup.
'Going places'
"I want to build on that and see just how far we can go," McClaren, who also works with the England team, said. "My feeling is that we can go much further yet. Middlesbrough are a club going places so it was never even a question of whether I wanted to stay." They are next in action on Thursday when they travel to AZ Alkmaar.
