Article body
PFC CSKA Sofia coach Miodrag Ješić has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2008/09 season.
Ješić targets
The 46-year-old took over from Ferario Spasov in February and his contract was due to expire in December but was keen to extend his stay as he felt there are a number of goals he is yet to achieve with the club. "I still have a job to do here," he said. "We must work hard to win the title again and next season try to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage."
Impressive start
Ješić, who was previously in charge of FK Partizan in Serbia and Montenegro, enjoyed a fruitful start to his CSKA career, guiding them to the Bulgarian Premier League title in May. He has maintained that momentum this season, leading the club to the top of the table, four points clear of PFC Levski Sofia with an impressive unbeaten record.
European target
Having continued to impress on the domestic front, Ješić is keen to make an impact in European competition. However, after exiting the UEFA Champions League to Liverpool FC in the third qualifying round, CSKA's UEFA Cup fortunes have also wavered and they currently sit bottom of Group A having suffered two straight defeats.
