Wondrous Waterman denies Dinamo

FC Dinamo Bucuresti 0-0 SC Heerenveen Boy Waterman was in superb form as Gertjan Verbeek's side secured a precious away point.

Bratu shot
The home side created the majority of the scoring opportunities but found Heerenveen goalkeeper Boy Waterman in fantastic form. Florin Bratu had the first clear chance of the game on six minutes when he tested Waterman with a long-range shot. Ianis Zicu sent an effort wide just a minute later before Andrei Márgáritescu saw his effort soar over the crossbar as the home side dominated.

Home dominance
Mihaita Plesan also tried his luck on 18 minutes but his shot from distance flew wide. Zicu worried Waterman again on 34 minutes with a strike from closer range, but the on-form Dutchman comfortably caught the ball. It was a disappointing first half for the visitors who struggled to create any kind of forward momentum.

Waterman on form
Dinamo Bucuresti continued to pour forward after the interval and Stefan Grigorie nearly opening the scoring on 47 minutes with an effort from the edge of the penalty area which was again saved by Waterman. Gabriel Tamas tested the goalkeeper four minutes later, but again the Dutch custodian was equal to the task as he parried the effort away from danger.

Yildirim set-piece
Heerenveen finally created their first chance of the evening eight minutes after the break when Dinamo goalkeeper Uladzimir Hayeu was called on to keep out Ugur Yildirim's free-kick, but Dinamo quickly re-asserted their authority. Waterman saved well again, this time from Bratu, as he further strengthened his claims for the man of the match award. In the end, Dinamo seemed to run out of attacking ideas and the final 20 minutes produced little in the way of goalmouth action, with Vlad Munteanu's shot proving to be the last significant act of a scoreless match.
