Swollen achilles
Frei limped out of Switzerland's 3-1 victory in Cyprus yesterday following a heavy tackle. He had earlier scored the first goal of the game for the Group 4 leaders. The condition of his left ankle deteriorated overnight, leaving the 26-year-old with a badly swollen achilles tendon.
Double header
Frei, who was also on target in his country's 1-1 draw with Israel at the weekend, is now expected to miss Saturday's home league game against AJ Auxerre as well as the visit of Spanish side Osasuna for the UEFA Cup first round first leg on 15 September.
