Azzurri recognition
The 26-year-old forward scored ten goals in 33 games as the Sicilian club finished sixth in Serie A last season. That form earned him an international call-up and two Italy caps against Serbia and Montenegro and Ecuador in June.
Loan spells
Brienza, whose previous deal was due to expire in 2007, becomes the second Palermo player to agree new terms this summer after defender Andrea Barzagli. He joined Palermo from Foggia Calcio in 2000 but has since played on loan at Ascoli Calcio and AC Perugia.
