Catastrophic defeats
The 2003/04 Czech champions and current cup holders have slumped to second-bottom in the First Division after losing three of their opening four matches, including a 4-0 drubbing at promoted FK SIAD Most and a 3-1 home defeat by FK Mladá Boleslav.
Second spell
The 61-year-old arrived for his second spell in charge at the Bazaly stadium in October 2004, succeeding František Komnacký. Jarabinský has also coached AC Sparta Praha and SK Slavia Praha as well as sides in Spain, Greece and Turkey.
Hapal favourite
Ex-Bayer 04 Leverkusen and CD Tenerife player Hapal has filled the vacancy, signing a contract for the 2005/06 season today. The 36-year-old coached FC Zlín last term but did not extend his deal this summer. He will make his debut in the Czech Cup against third-division TŽ Třinec on Tuesday. Baník play Dutch club SC Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup first round on 15 and 29 September.
