The 21-year-old arrives in Sicily on a five-year contract, following an impressive season with Genoa 1893 and then Atalanta. Makinwa scored six goals in 18 games for Genoa in Serie B, before moving to the Bergamo club in January and registering six times in 17 top-flight appearances.
Well travelled
He was unable to stop Atalanta being relegated but his good form attracted the attention of several clubs. The Lagos-born forward, who has also played for Reggiana AC and Como Calcio, made his Serie A debut with Modena Calcio in January 2004. Palermo will enter the UEFA Cup next season after finishing sixth in Italy.
