Zenga to lead Crvena Zvezda

Dostanic departure
The 45-year-old has been given a two-year contract with the UEFA Cup challengers after the departure of Ratko Dostanic following the club's barren 2004/05 campaign. Zenga will begin work tomorrow with his new charges, who are training in Austria ahead of the Serbia and Montenegro season start on 6 August.

Same approach
Dragan Stojkovic, Crvena Zvezda's new president, confirmed the nomination of the 58-times Azzurri international, saying: "I'm very happy because one of the most famous goalkeepers in the world will be our leader. We made the deal quickly. We share the same football vision and I am excited about the future."

Steaua sacking
Zenga was sacked by FC Steaua Bucuresti in May despite the club going on to win the Romanian championship in his first season. Prior to that he had coached their Divizia A rivals FC National Bucuresti, having moved to Romania from New England Revolution in the United States.

European ambition
Crvena Zvezda, European champions in 1991, will enter the UEFA Cup in next month's second qualifying round with the draw being made a week on Friday. The Belgrade team finished six points behind FK Partizan in the 2004/05 First League and also lost the cup final to FK Železnik.
