Owoeri fixes Feyenoord future

Dutch side Feyenoord have signed highly-rated Nigerian striker John Owoeri while Glenn Loovens has departed.

Impressive summer
The 18-year-old moves from Bendel Insurance FC in his homeland after impressing at this summer's FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands, where he helped Nigeria reach the final. Those performances earned him a week's trial in Rotterdam and after convincing coach Erwin Koeman of his talent, he has secured a contract.

Loovens leaves
But as one youngster joins, another departs with 21-year-old centre-half Glenn Loovens switching to English second-division side Cardiff City FC on a season's loan. He will take no part in Feyenoord's UEFA Cup campaign, starting in the first round in September.
