Four cup wins
The 34-year-old arrived at AEK in the summer of 1994 from Xanthi FC, and has gone on to play 222 Greek league matches plus another 44 games in UEFA club competitions. In addition, he won the Greek Cup with AEK in 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2002.
'Impossible to leave AEK'
Kostenoglou explained his decision, saying: "I have developed a special bond with AEK and it was impossible for me to leave to join another club. Our president, Themistoklis Nikolaidis, offered me a job in the youth academy, so from now on, I will be part of a big project to make our youth section an example to all Greek clubs."
