Two-year deal
The 32-year-old striker, who was out of contract with the Scottish Premier League champions, has agreed a two-year deal. The move is a return to the Netherlands for Arveladze, who spent four seasons with Alkmaar's Eredivisie rivals AFC Ajax before moving to Glasgow during the 2001/02 campaign.
Successful season
He becomes Louis van Gaal's third signing since replacing Co Adriaanse at the end of the season - following the arrivals of RBC Roosendaal's Pius Ikedia and Danny Mathijssen from Willem II. Van Gaal will look to build on Alkmaar's successful 2004/05 campaign when they finished third in the league and reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals.
