Carmignani talks up Parma

FK Austria Wien will travel to Italy on level terms with Parma FC next week after a stirring second-half revival earned the home side a UEFA Cup quarter-final first-leg draw. Andrea Pisanu's deflected 34th-minute strike put the Italian visitors ahead against the run of play, but Austria upped the tempo after the interval and deservedly equalised through Sebastian Mila's curling shot from the right - leaving both teams hopeful of progress.

We missed many chances to score tonight. But I have to say that the opponents were very tough and applied a rather aggressive style. We still have a 50/50 chance to go through to the semi-finals. In the previous rounds against [Athletic Club] Bilbao and [Real] Zaragoza the matches were decided in the away leg. I am confident. Today the team showed that it is able to come from behind.

The draw was a fair result. It was a high-speed match, therefore both teams were very nervous. We have a slight advantage because of the away goal. We have achieved the maximum with a minimum effort and, for the second leg, striker Alberto Gilardino will return.
