Leading scorer
The 24-year-old is the Alpha Ethniki's leading scorer with ten goals in 16 games. He has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the option of a two-year extension. "I am delighted to be a Panathinaikos player," said Gekas. "I want to reward the club's faith in me and help the team reach their targets."
Fifth new signing
Gekas becomes Šcasný's fifth recruit of the transfer window, following the additions of defender Manolis Roubakis, defensive midfielder Anderson Lima, and midfielders Nordin Wooter and Konstantinos Charalambidis. Gekas joined Kallithea in the summer of 2001 from Larissa FC and helped the club to promotion in 2002.
