Brugge add to Belgian despair

Group C: Club Brugge KV coach Trond Sollied was unhappy after the Belgian side's elimination.

Clearly, I am very satisfied to have qualified, and in my opinion we deserve to go through. We controlled the first half and did not leave any space for Brugge to play their natural game. In the second half, Brugge changed their system of play, which forced me to alter my tactics. However, my team managed to adapt to this and controlled the match again. The draw was a fair result. Zaragoza coach Víctor Muñoz

We knew this would be a difficult match. The technical level of the Spanish side was much higher and it was obvious that they quickly took control of the game. At the start of the second half we changed our tactics, found some rhythm and totally deserved our equaliser. [Marek] Spilár's dismissal came at a very bad time for us, as we were on top. After that, our midfield had to improvise and we didn't get the ball wide often enough. Our failure to qualify was not just based on tonight, but also missing the chance to win our first group match. Club Brugge coach Trond Sollied

In the second half, we controlled the game and we were able to put more pressure on the Austria defence. But in Europe it is only the result that counts. At this level you are punished for any mistake. Austria made mistakes, but we forgot to punish them. Foeke Booy, Utrecht coach

We knew it was not going to be an easy night and that proved to be the case, especially after the break when we were under pressure. But I still think we deserved the win and we are delighted to have gone through. Günther Kronsteiner, Austria coach
