Article body
FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have awarded Moroccan striker Jaouad Zairi and French goalkeeper Teddy Richert two-year contract extensions, keeping both at the French club until 2008.
Regular role
Zairi joined Sochaux from FC Gueugnon in 2001/02, and the 22-year-old, who helped his country to the final of the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, has gradually won a regular first-team role. This season he has appeared 15 times in Ligue 1 and four times in UEFA Cup, scoring three goals overall.
Crucial contribution
Richert, 30, was the hero in April as Sochaux claimed their first trophy since 1938, making a number of important stops as Guy Lacombe's side defeated FC Nantes Atlantique on penalties in the final of the Coupe de Ligue. That victory earned Sochaux a place in the UEFA Cup and, having finished second in Group D, the French outfit next face Greece's Olympiacos CFP in the Round of 32 in February.
