Benfica follow Trapattoni's command

Group G reaction: Everything went according to plan for SL Benfica coach Giovanni Trapattoni as his side advanced.

When you score an early goal, like we did with the penalty, and at the same time the opponent is down to ten men, then you know that if you remain professional, you should be able to get through. I happened to tell some people at Benfica that I had the strong feeling that [Zlatko] Zahovic would score a goal in this match. Well, he scored two goals. Keeping Zahovic on the bench for a few matches has kept him very sharp, I think. At his age he can still do an excellent job for half an hour. In the second half I told my team to slow it down a bit. Benfica coach Giovanni Trapattoni

We started this match with all the goodwill in the world, but when you get such a blow in the first few minutes, with a penalty against you, and then having your goalkeeper sent off, then it is over already. I still think we played positively, and it is extra hard that it went this way. The second half we did a lot better than in the first half, but by then the match was already over. This team is not ready to go through in the UEFA Cup, but I do not see many negatives in our campaign. We deserved to play in the group stage and wanted to make the best out of it, but unfortunately we were not able to do more. Beveren coach Herman Helleputte

We played a good match, with some very bright moments. We controlled almost all of the match, but showed our weaknesses in the final phase of the game - instead of finding additional strength to finish the match, my players felt down. Also, our substitutes didn't fit in well, it wasn't the same later in the match. Dinamo Zagreb coach Ilija Loncarevic

We didn't play well in the first half, but after that we managed to score twice late in the match, Dinamo started to defend and we preferred that. In the end we could have won the game, but I am satisfied with the draw anyway, because we have our destiny in our own hands in the final match. Heerenveen coach Gertjan Verbeek
